Assassin's Creed 3 is official, set in America - First images
More details coming Monday, March 5, Ubisoft confirms
Ubisoft has officially announced Assassin's Creed 3, promising more details on the sequel next Monday, March 5.

Ubisoft has also released packshot images for the sequel, confirming leaks from earlier today indicating the game's set during the American Revolution.
CVG sources were first to out the American setting back in January, and this was again backed up this morning when Game Informer images appeared showing an assassin alongside George Washington.
UPDATE: Game Informer's since gone live with its cover images, which show Assassin's Creed 3's "daring new hero" wielding an axe and pistol.

"The game that emerged is Assassin's Creed III. Set in the latter half of the 18th century, we'll see the war between the Templars and the Assassins escalate as it crosses over to the New World of America, and witness firsthand the events of the American Revolution.
"Caught in the conflict is a daring new hero in the Assassin's Creed franchise. We have the full story of this new hero and the striking game in which he stars, along with exclusive screens and art from the project, all packed into a massive 13-page cover story."
According to earlier comments from Ubisoft, the series' switch to the 18th century conflict will mark its 'biggest instalment yet'.
